Christmas, tfu, winter set of three coffees of 126 grams each. For this set we selected the stars themselves:

  • Guama Baragwi AA | Kenya | Kirinyaga

Kenyan cultivars | Washed | 87.25

We still remember this coffee from… 2014. Such a boomer of us. Guama Baragwi has been in the living rooms for years, and it’s no coincidence. It is jammy, sweet, intense and fruity. Kenya in its purest form.

  • Santa Rosa | Guatemala

Caturra & Bourbon | Natural | 87

For connoisseurs of the subject – a diamond. For those who say Guatemala is boring ladies, repetitive ladies, predictable ladies – a leaf on a mussel! Sweetness and acidity dance bregdens here, such a dance on the head as if someone didn’t know. Scrolls of chocolate stories to go along with wine and fruits of various sorts. Intensity 10/10. A beautiful case.

  • La Guaca | Costa Rica | Ureña Rojas Family

Catuai | Sealed fermentation black honey | 87+

This superstar is gracing our menu for the third year in a row. A lot of wine madness, huge fruity sweetness and fantastic intensity. We’re turning coffee into a funk!

More geeky stuff

  • Guama Baragwi AA | Kenya | Kirinyaga

crop location: 1700 – 1800 m.a.s.l.

crop: 2023

importer: Bero Polska

TREATMENT

Washed processing is to Kenya as vodka on the table is to Polish name days. Typical and a must have! Before the grains are stripped of their dignity…, sorry, of their cherries, they are first sorted. Then they spend the night doing crazy things, in the sense that they ferment. The next day splash water on the mussel! Well, and then from eight to as many as fourteen days of drying….

FARMA

Akurat has never been to Kenya before, so we won’t get too smart. As far as we know, Baragwi is the largest cooperative of small farmers in the entire country! And the region where the fruit is grown, Kirinyaga, is a well-known growing area in the coffee world for its good quality.

  • Santa Rosa | Guatemala

crop location: 1300- 1500 m above sea level.

collection: january 2023

importer: 88 Graines

FARMA

Santa Rosa is now one of the largest coffee-producing regions in Guatemala. This flight comes from the El Boqueron station, to which the coffee is delivered by small producers who grow coffee nearby.

TREATMENT

Natural, in that slightly funky direction. Fermentation and subsequent drying throughout the fruit. Simple, concrete, without alchemy, but with precision and skilfulness.

  • La Guaca | Costa Rica | Ureña Rojas Family

crop location: 1,700 meters above sea level.

crop: 2023

importer: 88 Graines

FARMA

Coffees from Cafe Rivense are another direct trade among our heretical items. This beautiful farm nestled among the greenest mountains of central Costa Rica. The family business of Mr. and Mrs. Ureña, in which everything runs like a Swiss watch. La Guaca is a high-altitude plantation on a farm where practically only one strain is grown – catuai – perhaps the most popular variety in these coffee regions.

TREATMENT

Here Regulo and his sons went all the way. Before the coffee was reprocessed as black honey (lots of pulp on the beans), it fermented for itself for more than 24 hours in sealed containers. The whole process was, of course, controlled by these professionals, because after all, we want to drink coffee, not kombucha, right? A wild party ensued, but without a hangover in the morning!
